Henry Taylor Kirby

HENRY TAYLOR KIRBY was born on the 27th of  December 1885 in Crosbie Street, Troon. Ref 590/2 2).  He was the first of nine known children born to John Kirby and Elizabeth Taylor of Troon. Being the first child of  John and Elizabeth, they  had wasted little time in starting a family. They were  married in the April and it was exactly nine months later that John was born. The birth was registered on the 5th of  January 1886, by the father, John Kirby who is shown as a Seaman at that time.

Henry Taylor Kirby was named after his grandfather, Henry Taylor, the father of Elizabeth Taylor.

Henry Taylor Kirby died aged 7½ on the 1st of August 1892 in 2 Barassie Street, Troon at 10.15 am ( Ref 1892 590/2 49). The death was reported by John Kirby on the 1st August 1892 the cause of death being Acute Infective Periostitis for 21 days.(a disease of the bones)

It is believed that Henry Taylor Kirby was the first of the children to die.

Little is known about Henry Taylor, although an examination of the Troon school records may help. However, by the time of his death he had two or three sisters. The eldest was Lucy Elizabeth, who was born on the 4th of May 1887. Christina Walker was born on the 5th of May 1889 and  Elizabeth Taylor who was born during 1861.
